Pattern Recognition

This article gives an explanation of the Pattern Recognition feature.

Updated over a week ago

If you organisation has enabled the Pattern Recognition feature, you will be able to see a view like the one below when creating an Incident Report.

What is Pattern Recognition

Pattern recognition helps you see similar incidents to the one you’re creating. It gives you an overview of related incidents you might not know about, helping you stay informed.

How to View Pattern Recognition Results

  1. Go to Incident Reports.

  2. Click on "Create".

  3. As you start filling out the information for the incident, you will see results on the right side.

  4. To view, click on the incident.

How the Results Are Calculated

The results are based on an overall score that reflects the similarity across various parameters. This score gives you a quick understanding of how closely the items match.

The different parameters that play a role are indicated as icons.

What Each Parameter Refers To

  • Geography: Compares the location of the incident to identify similarity.

  • Date: looks at the timing of the incident, such as start and end dates, as well as patterns (e.g., incidents occurring on Mondays).

  • Qualitative Information: Analyzes the description of the incident for similarities in details and context.

These parameters help determine the overall similarity score for more accurate results.

Colors of the icons are indicators to show similarity:

  • Green: Very similar

  • Amber: Somewhat similar

  • Red: Not similar

These colors help you quickly assess the level of similarity for each parameter.
